Budo: Practice without a Partner

Since the dojo is closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, here are some resources for solo practice you can do at home.

Aikido

The walking kata is arguably the most important thing we do in aikido. It contains many of the basic fundamental movements to our practice and will help internalize them into muscle memory. The best part is that the walking kata does not require much space and can be done solo.

Judo

These judo warm-ups and solo drills will keep you in top judo shape until you can get back to the dojo. Even if you aren’t a judo student, you can turn these exercises into a great full-body workout.

Jodo

If you have a jyo stick at home (or even a broomstick) you can practice these postures and solo kihon.
