Iron is full of impurities that weaken it; through the forging fire, it becomes steel and is transformed into a razor-sharp sword. Human beings develop in the same fashion.”

Windsong Dojo is one of Oklahoma City’s oldest and most respected training center for the traditional Japanese Martial Arts. At Windsong Dojo we teach arts that empower the body, awaken the mind, and enlighten the spirit; arts that embody both tradition and innovation; arts that are both powerful tools for self-defense, and tools for inner growth.

In a relaxed no-contract atmosphere and an adult learning environment you will find the practices of: Aikido, a non-competitive, low impact, soft touch, self-defense based art of harmony; Judo, a medium intensity, proactive, highly empowering practice of throws and grappling; and Jyodo, a traditional weapons form from ancient Japan that transforms perception and fosters precision.

Through these practices, which together constitute a complete martial arts form we call Kaze Uta Budo, you will realize:

a dynamic and internalized self-defense
an improved health and vitality
a greater self confidence and self-respect
a path towards life harmony
a strategy of non-violence and inner peace
a new found sense of wholeness
and many special friends to share the journey.

With time, practice, and patience, Kaze Uto Budo will transform your life. You will see and feel results. All are welcome.

Windsong Dojo—Martial Arts for Body, Mind, and Spirit

Shochugeiko Summer Intensive
coming up June 21–26, 2010

Six Days of ongoing Aikido instruction with Nick Lowry in Oklahoma City supplemented with several good daily doses of Aikido, Judo, and Jodo instruction by the ranking Windsong Dojo Budo Kai instructors throughout the week. Aikido students of all levels are invited to come and train!

During the intensive, the normal dojo schedule (morning, noon and evening classes) will be supplemented by Nick Lowry teaching two special sessions each day:

Morning sessions to run 9:30-11:00 AM for Koryu Dai Ni, a kata of body drop and hip action

Afternoons to be 2:30-4:00 PM for Randori Renzoku and Ura Waza focusing on randori skill development with exercises emphasizing fluid transitions from control to control and fluid countering activity.

Aikido emphasis throughout the week's regular class times will be on randori. Judo emphasis on Ashi Waza and Newaza. Jodo emphasis on Kata and Koryu.

Intensive participants may do as much or as little training as they prefer. Attendance at all class times and special sessions is not required (best to pace yourselves. This is ALOT of mat hours folks! An average of 6 budo classes per day!) So feel free to come and participate for as much or as little as works for you and your schedule.

Opening Bell for the Intensive and Zen Meditation will take place on Sunday evening June 20th at 6:30 PM. All particpants are welcome for meditation at no extra charge. The Intensive will conclude with our traditional Dojo Saturday Schedule and a celebratory feast mid afternoon at one of our fine area resturants. Afterwards, folks are welcome to kick back to stay over and party and visit on Saturday eve as well. Out of towners are welcome to camp out on the mat throughout the week and save a few bucks or there are several cheap motels nearby that are available as well.

Cost for Windsong Dojo members (payable only if you plan to attend the extra intensive sessions, and not applicable if only attending the regular class times which are covered in normal tuition): $90 (or $15 per day) Cost for Kaze Uta Budo Kai members: $120 (or $20 per day) Cost for non-members: $180 (or $30 per day)

If you have questions, email Nick Lowry at or call (405) 943-6246.

New black belt aikido class added to the schedule

Effective February 1, 2010, we'll be making two changes to the Saturday class schedule.

Regular aikido class will be moved back 30 minutes earlier and start at 11 am instead of 11:30. It will last 90 minutes as usual.

This schedule change is necessary to allow time for a new class. We're adding a "black belt" aikido class on Saturdays from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
