Martial Arts & Social Distance

We miss our dojo. With the COVID-19 outbreak, we have had to shut the dojo doors in an effort to protect our students and do our part to keep the virus from spreading. With the state cautiously starting to open up again, we think we’ve found a way to enjoy our martial arts (in a limited capacity) while still making safety our priority.

Our first outdoor jodo class happened this week (taught by Nick Lowry) and the students all had a blast. The nature of jodo especially lends itself to social distancing, and having a class outside in the fresh air adds another element of safety.

There will be another outdoor jodo class scheduled for Monday, May 18th at 5:30 PM outside the dojo. We are also planning to have an aikido class at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 21 at Will Rogers Park; Jim Ellison will be teaching some techniques for engaging your center while doing the walking kata.

We hope to have more such classes until we can meet again on the mat.
