At
Windsong Dojo we strive to encourage excellence in our students
through the practice of the highest quality martial arts training
available; through positive reinforcement teaching techniques;
and through genuine, honest discourse in a friendly and open
atmosphere. We strive to maintain the highest ethical standards
in our practice and we put the safety of our students first
and foremost.
Students
work at their own pace through a structured program designed
to develop true self-defense, true self discipline, and true
self confidence. We believe that nothing is so strong as gentleness,
and nothing is so gentle as true strength.
Dojo Rules & Etiquette
No one is allowed on the mat unless they are a member of the
dojo or a registered guest.
Bow when entering or leaving the mat.
Leave your ego in your shoes.
Bow to
your partner before practicing and when finished.
Follow
the lesson of the instructor in charge of class.
Do not
talk while the instructor is talking or demonstrating.
Report
all injuries immediately.
Report
any acts of wrongdoing immediately.
When
seated on the mat, sit in anza (legs crossed) or
seiza (kneeling).
Do not
sit with legs outstretched.
Help
keep the dojo clean, before and after classes.
Never
chew gum or candy on the mat.
Always
have clean feet, hands, and gi before stepping on the mat.
Please
ensure that all nails are cut short, all open cuts must be
covered by a bandage.
If you
bleed on the mat, you are responsible for cleaning it up.
Do so promptly.
No one is allowed to practice under the influence of any form
of intoxicant.
No footwear
is allowed on the mat.
No jewelry
is to be worn on the mat.
Live
weapons are not allowed on the mat.
Always
strive to keep practice safe and joyful.
Maintain
mature standards of decorum.
Never
behave in an insolent manner. Respect differing points of
view.
Guests
observing practice should respect the rules and harmony of
the dojo.
